One of Uganda’s top personal brands Dr. Karuhanga Secures New Term as dfcu Bank’s Board Chairman

Renowned Kampala lawyer Dr. Elly Karuhanga ((Ph. D.)  is set to serve another term as the Chairman Board of Directors dfcu Bank, after he was reappointed to the same position early this week following the expiry of his tenure.

Karuhanga’s contract was renewed by the Bank’s Board following his diligent service to the financial institution which spurns over several years.

A prominent city lawyer and conflict resolution expert, Dr. Elly Karuhanga is a business person who has been at the helm of 8 different companies.

Presently, he holds the positions of Chairman for Uganda Soft Drinks Manufacturers Association, Chairman of Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum, Chairman at Development Finance Co. of Uganda Ltd., Chairman of British American Tobacco Uganda Ltd, Director & Legal Counsel at Canmin Resources Ltd.

He is also on the Board of Nile Breweries Ltd and Marasa Holdings Ltd and Chairman for Uganda ThinkTank Foundation, President of The Rotary Club of Kampala, Senior Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates, Chairman-Governing Council President at Alternative Dispute Resolution and Member of the World Trade Law Association.

Karuhanga, who is also a former Member of Parliament, is Director & Legal Counsel-Uganda Region at IBI Corp, Chairman for National Social Security Fund Uganda and Director at Tullow Uganda Ltd, among other positions.

It should be noted that he is also the board chairman of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda, a role he took on in November 2019.

Karuhanga is a founding partner of Kampala Associated Advocates together with the retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Uganda, Justice Bart Katureebe, Mr. Oscar Kambona, and Mr. Sam Mayanja. His former law firm; Karuhanga & Co. Advocates, merged with three other law firms to form Kampala Associated Advocates in 2001. He became a managing partner from 2006 to 2008.
